The Ethical Slut
Everyone I talk to about this book confirms that this is “the book” for ethical non-monogamy. I’ve gotta say after readying it - I totally agree.
"The Ethical Slut" is a book that explores the concept of consensual non-monogamy (polyamory to some) and offers a guide for people who are curious about this way of being in relationships. The authors, Dossie Easton and Janet W. Hardy, encourage readers to embrace their sexuality and to approach relationships with honesty, communication, and respect for everyone involved.
The book covers a range of topics, including communication skills, jealousy, safer sex practices, and navigating different relationship dynamics. The authors also challenge traditional notions of monogamy and fidelity, arguing that consensual non-monogamy can lead to healthier relationships and personal growth.
Whether you identify as poly, or are curious about all the different ways humans can be in relationship with each other, this book gives us good suggestions for voicing our needs, and hearing about the needs of others. For people experienced in open / poly relationships, this book may not bring anything new - but for those thinking of “dipping their toe in” this book is definitely a great primer.
